Myofascial Dry Needling
Myofascial dry needling is the localized needling of Muscle and fascia points . Needles are inserted into specific points in the tissues and this can decrease the sensitivity in the tissues. We are not sure how this therapy has its effect but one of the theories is the neural activity from inserting the needles sends information from the being inserted and contextual cues of the clinical encounter up to the brain where it is scrutinized by the brain and this can trigger a descending modulation effect to the spinal cord and to the tissues where we can see a decrease in the sensitivity.
